Event Team
Volunteers are required for the Spring Champs 25 Event Team there are roles ashore and on the water. If you are new to all this then rest assured that most roles need no prior experience and someone will make sure you know what you are doing! There's information on our webpage and a document which describes the volunteer roles in detail. If you have any questions or are unsure what's required please just email Filippo volunteers@optimist.org.uk
GBR Sailors entry
GBR sailors must be current IOCA UK member for 2025. Join the class or renew membership before making an online entry.

International sailors must be a current member of a National Optimist organisation. When entering please select 'International' entry.

The venue and sailing area
Royal Torbay Yacht club is marked by the red pin. Ther launch slip is located at the land end of the Haldon Pier. The boats parking is on the Haldon Pier and the access to the sailing area is via the pierheads. Saftey fleet RIBs will tie up on the pontoon oposite the Haldon Pier. Inbetween the club house and the pier is a multi story car park.
Main Fleet - Flights
Main Fleet will be sailing in Flights. There will be four flights groups with 2 groups in each start. The Course and Flight Start Sequence are published in the MESI 2025.
Equipment Declaration
An online Equipment Declaration must be completed by all sailors in Main Fleet. The Equipment Declaration must be completed by 9.30 am on Saturday 15 March 2025. Changes to the Equipment Declaration must be made by the same time.
Vehicle Parking in Torbay
When planning your visit to Todyay it is worth looking at the parking information published by Torbay Council. The Beacon Quay multi story carpark opposite the club house. RTYC has made a request to the Torbay Council for IOCA to have exclusive use of the top deck of the multi storage. It is anticipated that there will be parking spaces available early in the day.
