On behalf of Brightlingsea Sailing Club we would like to welcome you to our club. We are excited and honoured that the Optimist Fleet is visiting our beautiful corner of Essex for this important event and hope that you will have a great weekend.
Leading our club team during your visit will be myself, Commodore Alice Davies. In the Race Office you will meet our Race Office Manager Kathy Ashworth and running the boat and car parking we have President Barrie Winship.
In the clubhouse our bar team is led by Vanessa Mitchell. You will find contact details for key individuals further on in this document.
BSC is entirely run by the members for the members and in addition to these team leaders dozens more volunteers will be helping throughout the weekend. If you require assistance at any time, please don’t hesitate to speak to one of us and we will do our very best to help.
If you haven’t been to Brightlingsea before our Harbour Commission produce an excellent Visitors Guide which includes a detailed map of the town showing the location of key services and shops, as well as a host of useful information for visiting sailors. Tel: 07711 718470
Google Maps: https://tinyurl.com/wgg65w3
On arrival, please follow the directions to our visitors’ boat park area (a right turn off the approach road which will be signed with an A Board). Once you are parked, please check in with our Race Office where you will be issued with a car parking pass so you won’t be issued with a fine.
ON ARRIVAL
Competitors are welcome to arrive at the club from lunchtime on Friday 26 August onwards. Should you require to arrive prior to this, arrangements can be made by emailing Alice Davies on commodore@sailbrightlingsea.com.
As you approach the club along Oyster Tank Road please look out for the club marshals and signs that direct you to your unloading area. Our site has restricted access and narrow roads so please follow the instructions given to you by the marshals which will help you to achieve the most efficient and timely arrival process.
The team will direct you initially to an area where you can offload your boat(s) and they will also be able to point out the trailer parking area and the boat parking area. We would ask you to unload your boats as quickly as possible and move cars and trailers into their designated parking areas promptly to allow others arriving behind you access to offload.
The club house is the larger two-story dark grey weather board building next to the club car park. As you enter the building through the main door you will find the main changing rooms off the entrance lobby. To the right you will find the door to the main clubroom which is where Registration will be located on Saturday. Our disabled changing room and toilet are accessed by going into the main room, passing in front of the bar and turning left and then right. There is wheelchair access to the whole of the ground floor, however if you have specialist access needs please contact Alice Davies on commodore@sailbrightlingsea.com with details and we will do our best to ensure you are catered for.
Space is a little limited in our changing room and we cannot guarantee absolute security, so we ask that competitors please leave kit bags locked in their cars when possible.

It is open on Friday and Saturday from 07.00 to 21.00 and on Sunday from 10.00 to 16.00.
Waterside diesel is available in Brightlingsea at the Harbour Commission fuel barge upriver of the RIB launching area and fuelling can be arranged via the Harbour Office on 01206 302200 or VHF Channel 68.
Please note that moorings for RIBs will be on pontoons that are not connected to the shore. There is a Water Taxi service which runs from 08.00 to 22.00 and can be booked on 01206 302200 or VHF Channel 68 (cost £1.50 per crossing but 10 discount tokens can be purchased from the harbour office to bring the cost down).
For engine repairs there are three marine engineers in Brightlingsea, Brightlingsea Boat Park & Ride on 01206 304747, French Marine Motors on 01206 302133 and Morgan Marine on 01206 302003. Brightlingsea Boat Park and Ride can also assist with minor tube repairs.
