About Us

IOCA is a group of parents who have come together to plan and organise Optimist sailing in the UK. The work is carried out by volunteers: committee members, area reps, flotilla leaders, event co-ordinators and event volunteers.

We provide opportunities for our sailors to learn to sail and race, and then progress to high quality competition but above all to become passionate about the sport, as Optimist sailing is just the beginning of their sailing story.

IOCA aims to encourage children to take up sailing across the country in their clubs and regions and supports those who go on to compete at regional, national and internationals events.

More formally the International Optimist Class Association (UK) Ltd. is the UK member of IODA, the international class association.
